Ahold's retail operations are presented in five segments. In addition, Ahold's Corporate Center is presented separately. Ahold's
73.2 percent stake in Schuitema, which was sold in 2008, also represented a separate segment. The accounting policies used
for the segments are the same as the accounting policies used for the consolidated financial statements as described in Note 3.
